FAQs

What is reformer pilates?

Pilates is a workout that focuses on controlled movement, core strength, and muscular endurance.

The reformer uses spring-based resistance to deliver a low impact workout. You may be sitting, laying, or standing on the moving carriage, adjusting the spring load to increase or decrease resistance.

First timer? Our instructors will give you run-down of the reformer when you arrive to the studio.

Do you have an intro class for first timers?

No, our instructors are trained to teach to all levels. In class, they’ll offer modification options and intentional layering, so you can progress an exercise to the point that feels achievable to you.

Our instructors will be notified if it’s your first class, and will walk you through the reformer before we begin.

How should I prepare for my first class?

Are there any age requirements?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled class time. We’ll introduce you to the space and the instructor will give you an overview of the reformer.

Grip socks are required, and can be purchased at the studio.

We recommend bringing a water bottle (we have a cooler onsite to fill up), and wearing fitted clothing that allows you to lunge, squat, and stretch your arms comfortably.

I’m recovering from an injury. Can I safely participate in class?

If you’ve been cleared for low-impact activity, you’re welcome at Kinetic.

However, note that classes may include weight-bearing through the ankles, knees, wrists, and elbows, and can often be adjusted. Let your instructor know about any injuries before class so they can support you with appropriate modifications.

I’m pregnant, can I participate in class?

If you’ve been cleared for low-impact activity, you’re welcome at Kinetic. Please tell your instructor before class so they can support you with modifications, as some movements are not advised as pregnancy progresses.

Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to participate in class.
